Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Mr Brian Bradley and his wife; Mayor of Hessle, Phil Davison and Peter Bielby of the Hessle Branch of The Royal British Legion along with representatives of Hessle schools, uniformed organisations and local emergency services laid wreaths after the Remembrance service which commemorated all people who have been killed in various conflicts and families who have been affected by war.
A mixture of adults and schoolchildren from the community participated in reading relevant poems during the service. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM...
Children's Society Coffee Morning - a well attended event was
enjoyed by all, making £568.20 for the charity. Visitors were
entertained during their refreshment break by various musicians on
flute, cello and piano. The various stalls; Raffle, Christmas cards,
cakes and bric a brac raised funds for the charity. Thank you to all who
supported us.
Who says learning about the bible
stories cannot be fun? The Mini and Plus Saints can be seen giving feedback to the
congregation as they explore the concepts of Fairness and Equality; also
Patience as they had to wait until the end of the service before
consuming their marshmallow symbols!
TOWER APPEAL LAUNCHED.
Paul Hardy, a churchwarden, introduced an informative and social event
which launched our Tower Appeal. The event was attended by Margot Sutton
and members of the Parish Council; Revd Matthew Brailsford, area Dean;
Andrew Boyce, our church architect; and Peter Nesbitt whose presentation
put the appeal into historical perspective. The event created the
opportunity for people to ask questions of Andrew about the proposed
work, the maintenance priorities and the specialist materials and
craftsmen that will have to be used. This appeal now needs your support
to maintain this building at the centre of the Hessle community.
Pentecost comes from the Greek
Πεντηκοστή (Pentēkostē)
meaning "fiftieth" and is celebrated fifty days after Easter
Sunday. During the worship, many of the congregation were involved in
the delivery of the interactive service which commemorates the descent
of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ
as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31).
A camping weekend, with some of us opting for a
converted en suite in the barn! gave the opportunity for eating, praying
and socialising together. In the informal atmosphere, we shared
the tasks of feeding the group of 27 people, washing up, preparing
worship and ensuring everyone was having fun. It was a surprise to find
Alpacas at our campsite at Highfield Farm! In the rain, hail and
windy conditions of Saturday, we visited Burton Constable Hall, which
amongst its lavishly decorated rooms, still has a Roman Catholic Chapel
dedicated for worship. After a Eucharist service on Sunday we, BBQed
late into the evening.
An experience enjoyed by all.

Churches Together activities in
Hessle
over the EASTER Weekend (10 Mins)
Holy
Saturday was spent in preparation for Easter with the children exploring
the church answering questions devised by Wendy Macadam and involving
themselves in various craft activities. The children were rewarded with
an Easter egg! During this event, many people were in church preparing
for the Easter services. Easter Day dawned with a re-enactment of the
events of Easter morning on Hessle Foreshore, followed by an Easter
Breakfast, which culminated in the Eucharist and a celebration of the
Easter Ceremonies.
Good Friday saw Churches Together in Hessle

Palm Sunday. The Passion was dramatised during the Eucharistic service.
Our uniformed organisations were involved
in the Mothering Sunday service by reading the lessons, leading
prayers, interacting in the sermon, distributing posies and helping with
the offertory. During the service the Mini and Plus Saints banner and
flag were dedicated...
Each Friday during Lent we continue to
reverence God in a short service

Sanderson's memory. Avril was a faithful, dedicated and always cheerful
member of our congregation.
